After a second review of the house, it was not as sweet as we thought and needed WAY more work than I realized, so we decided it was not worth it. I have a bunch more houses to go look at, but I'm really tempted to take a small break and let some more things come on the market and see what happens. So, I think maybe we'll not be as active, at least for a little bit. My enthusiasm has waned at this point. A break from looking at things would be nice, I think.
To answer your question there Rachel, no, we're not coming up for V-ball. It was sweet when we could go for free (or get paid) and stuff, but to spend $70 on tickets, $50 on food/drinks, $50 on gas and possibly have to take a day off from work is just not worth it for us at this point in time. I'm sure V-ball weekend will roll around and I'll have completely changed my mind and it will be too late, but there we are. I'd rather save the money at this point.
We'll come up some random weekend and hang out. That's always better for us anyway. Unless something TOTALLY sweet is going down. :)
So, I'll probably keep quiet about the house stuff for a while. I have also decided that I am really really tired of weighing as much as I do and I should probably start exercising. Which, I will attempt to start this week. I figure that if I can lost 20 pounds by the wedding of a childhood friend in STL at the end of May, I will probably be a very happy girl. We shall see what happens. I say this now, but next week could be a different story. More so, I would just like to fit into my clothes again. I have probably 20-30 skirts/pants that I can't wear currently. I would like to wear those again. I would, as Marky put it, "swim in my tux from V-Ball last year"...well, in my case, we'll call it a dress. Maybe.
Good night!

The House Hunt
So, we looked at this one today, and it's pretty promising. I'm waiting to hear back a little bit from the realtor about the activity on the house -- it's been on the market 30 days. I went and saw it with my dad, but Jake and I and my mom and dad (I would assume) are going first thing tomorrow morning to check it out again. I want to look it over again, just to make sure that it's what I want. The kitchen is pretty large. The bedroom is upstairs, and it's fairly big. The bathroom is nice -- I think that I would redo her a bit, but it's okay. The living room is nice, there is a huge closet in the entryway, big backyard, big driveway, garage, basement. I mean, this one is probably the best that I've liked. I have a positive feeling about it. It's pretty good.
I'm waiting to hear on the activity, because if there is an offer coming in on it, I would rather get an offer in on it right away.
EDIT:
Heard back from the agent. There have been a TON of showings on this house, but no offers or anything. I can think of TONS of things that we can do to the place to fix it up if we get it, but we shall see... :) We're going tomorrow at noon. I really hope that we get this house. That would be pretty sweet.
In other news, my battery on my 3 year old laptop (man, I can't believe it's been THAT long) has decided that it will run about an hour and then shut off with no warning that I am running out of power. Which is really irritating to say the least. So, Jake and Josh are here farting around on the compy AND they discover that my battery is under recall for potentially starting on fire. So, basically I get a $130 battery FOR FREE!!!!!!!! YEA!!!!!!! I'm all about that shit. Thank god for really old laptops. woot.
that's all I've got. More on the house later tomorrow, I'm sure.

This Weekend
Josh, The Joe and Jake are going to a concert. I am chilling alone, which will be sweet. Looking forward to it.
Going to look at houses tomorrow with the realtor and my dad at least. Hopefully, we will find a good one that we can go back and look at Sunday (with Jake). I'm not getting my hopes up too much. We'll see what happens.
Well, the Joe is here, so I'm going. Later.

In case you were not aware
we lost some more houses this past weekend. And I sure pasted my displeasure at said fact in my facebook status. I'm just so frustrated. I mean, I don't really care that we didn't get the houses, because it just means that we are not meant to live there, but the arbitrariness (is that a word?) of it all frustrates me.
Anyway, after the rash of losing out on houses in the West Allis area, I've decided to turn a focus to Waukesha for two reasons. the first being that maybe we are supposed to be living out there (for whatever reason) and so we keep losing houses in West Allis for some grand plan that is taking place. The second is that for a little more money, we can get something the same out there. The higher priced house plus less escrow means equal value to me. Plus, there are really no more houses out on the market for us to look at, and I will feel defeated if I stop looking for a week.
So, onward and upwards (as Doc would say). I'm going with the agent (who has been very accomodating about all of this, because I'm sure she has plenty of other things going on right now too) out to Waukesha tomorrow to look at 4 houses and see if any of them grab my fancy. My boss said that I could take an hour during work tomorrow to go look. Plus, since Jake has to work until 8:30ish tomorrow, I can stay an extra hour at work to make up for it. Well, maybe. We'll see. :)
There is one that is looking pretty sweet -- totally redone. We'll just have to see what that entails priscely. The rest are mostly just to look at. But, I'm getting frustrated looking with my mom and dad. We're getting too many opinions. I'd rather Jake and I just talked. Instead, we just panic. Because I think that we made a bad tactical decision this weekend and didn't go for one we both wanted because there was miscommunication all around.
Anyway. I'm pretty tired and Scrubs will be on the CW shortly. More updates later this week, I'm sure. Stay Warm! :)

Cool new fun things
Check that out over there -------------------------------------->
Pretty sweet, eh?
got it at the-leaky-cauldron.org
I'm also gearing up this morning for going to look at houses with Jake and Dad.
I'm pretty excited about the first one. There are two that are starting to be shown this weekend and I would really like to put offers on both. One is right down the block from the first one that we bid on. I know that I am repeating myself over and over and over and over...but I'm excited.

July 21, 2007
I really really wanted 7/7/07, but alas, it didn't work.
However, it is the tenth anniversary of the release of the first book, which is pretty cool.
I'm SUPER excited for July now.
woot.
More houses to look at tomorrow. Didn't care about the one on 95th in West Allis anymore, not for $136,000. I didn't feel like countering something that would just get rejected anyway.
And, my dad got his HDTV box from Time Warner yesterday -- SUPER BOWL'd'd'd'd!
I still remember 2004 (?) watching with everyone at the house and having Adam Boll yell out all of a sudden, "I SAW A BOOB!". Oh, Janet Jackson. Was that 2004? Correct me if I am wrong.

2009 SAI Convention!
Can I get a hell yes?
EAI Convention in 2009 will be in Chicago! Sweet action!
That is pretty exciting for me. I've been waiting to go to a convention since I joined. I'm also joining the alumnae chapter down here, if I can ever make it too a meeting...sheesh.
I can't wait to hear the details. Makes me wish I was in Chicago so I could help plan more than anything. Oh well. Maybe I'll run for Province officer down here or something crazy like that. :)
Anyway....
We put on offer down on a house last night. It's in West Allis again, very close to the first one. They have until the 31st to decide what they want to do. The house has been on the market for a while and actually, while it has been updated quite a bit, it needs electrical updates to 100 amp service and the basement needs to be inspected to make sure there is no serious damage down there -- one wall leaks a bit, but who knows how bad it really is.
I'll keep you updated. I don't want to say too much, because I'll just get excited and then really disappointed again, I'm sure. :) Toodles!

More updating...
So, nothing new on the house front...we have looked at a few more, but nothing special jumped out yet. We might go to a few open houses tomorrow and I might go look at some this week with the realtor by my lonesome. We are definitely going to look at some Feb. 3rd.
In the life, nothing new either. My job, I have decided, is probably the most boring thing that I have ever done. There is a distinct difference between being bored because you're out of stuff to do for the day (even if it IS at 10am) and just being BORED. I guess I need something where I do different stuff everyday. Definitely. It's ridiculous. I wish that I could do what I do in Brookfield instead of Hartland. That would make things a bunch easier. Oh well. I'll probably just start looking for something new again. I saw a couple jobs at US Bank (I know...I know...let's just pretend that the complaining that I did was because of the depression that I was living through and my crappy manager) that looked interesting, but I doubt that they would pay enough. We'll see...I should have a review coming up where I will probably voice my issues. I don't really give a flying fuck anymore. They know that I am WAY overqualified for the job that I am in...maybe we can talk about me moving forward, or I am just going to move on. I've had enough of trying to find my place in this company when all I needed was to have a real full time position in the accounting department and not the other two in there. I could pretty much do it all...and then they wouldn't have to be paying two people. they could just be paying me $35,000 a year.
Vent over.
It's sleepy time for me soon. Went to Hector's tonight -- delicious margaritas and good food. My parents asked us if we wanted to go and we did.
Anyway, I'm done for tonight. Good night.

We're having another go of it...
So, we found another that we really liked. It is in West Allis (again) and it is pretty much sweet. Total retro kitchen and a super nice basement. Like, really nice. The whole place is really well taken care of too.
We shall see what tomorrow brings. :)

Update
So, house #1 that we liked = gone...
Stupid other agents not even sending a counteroffer...
Anyway, we're going to go look at a few on Wednesday night, which should be good. There is one in Waukesha that we are going to look at and from the pictures, it looks like, if everything is cool, we might put an offer in on that one. Waukesha would be pretty sweet to live in too. Plus, I'd be closer to worky work.
I won't get my hopes up this time however.
So, you'll be hearing from me again this time on Wednesday or Thursday, hopefully with some kick ass news...if not, then the search continues.
EDIT: P.S. Thanks for all the nice comments guys! Just keep checking back...or check my status on facebook? It'll be here for all the world to see! :)

The Hunt for the Perfect House
Okay, so we've really only been looking for a little itty bitty bit. A couple weeks. We went to some open houses around last weekend -- 2, one in West Allis, one in Tosa -- and they were okay. West Allis = v. big, but lots of work needed. Tosa = v. small, no work needed. No basement or garage however.
Today, we went to look at five houses. The first was just in the City of Milwaukee (i know, i know), but it was okay. It was HUGE! and needed some updates, but had a basement, and it was okay. There was a sold sign on it, so that was confusing to say the least. Not a favorite. The next was in Tosa, was v. updated and nice, but again, was v. big and had NO driveway and only ONE freakin parking space! One. Unbelievable. And you can't park on the street in Tosa like in the Eau C. So, that was the end of that one. The next was a total fix-er-upper and was total crap. the only place I didn't feel dirty was the basement. And I HATE basements for the most part.
The next two were in West Allis. The first was one with no basement, but a garage. It was pretty sizable, and included some applicances as well as only really needing cosmetic updates for the most part. Painting, some new carpet in a room and what not. Had a HUGE backyard. Huge. We really were liking it. We saw one more, which was weird, because the whole house had a slant to it. And there was no basement to look at the problem.
So, after we were done and our real estate agent went home, Jake pretty much decided that he wanted to put an offer down on it, so we had the agent do it and email us the paperwork and we signed it and we're sending her over to the other agent tomorrow morning. It's very exciting. We've requested an April closing date so we don't have double payments to a house and rent. We'll see what happens. I hope we get it. It's very exciting.

I'm joining the party....
What do you drink with dinner?
Whatever we have around the house...water or juice is the first choice -- soda is at worky work.
What do you dip a chicken nugget in?
Ranch.
What is your favorite type of food/cuisine?
Fake American Italian and Real Italian....although, from what I was reading today while hacking the web, I've never eaten real italian food.
What movies could you watch over and over and still love?
Serenity, Miracle, Apollo 13, What a Girl Wants...in fact, I think that it's still in the player and I will probably watch it. It's not, but I'm going to watch it anyway. I love Colin Firth.
Were you in sports in high school?
Soccer, freshman year. I played from the time I was 8 until 14. I could have kept playing in high school, but I decided to stop. There was no hope of me making varsity.
Were you a boy/girl scout?
Yes. I was in girl scouts for as long as I played soccer. It was fun, for the most part.
When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper and mailed it?
Well, it was either writing to Jill while she was at basic training in 2001 or writing to this girl named Liz that I was friends with because she was dating a friend from high school -- I mean, she went to the same high school I did, but not at the same time. I think the last time that I wrote her was before she went to Madison.
Ever gotten a speeding ticket?
Yep. I was 17 and was doing 50 down Lloyd. Was pulled over approx. 800 ft. from my house. Oops.
Ran out of gas?
Nope.

What's your favorite mixed drink?
Tequila?
When you were a kid what did you dress up as for Halloween?
My grandma made me a Ninja Turtle costume for me when I was in 5th grade and that was pretty frickin' sweet. I still have most of it -- it's missing a foot, I think.

Mostly on Sundays.
How many languages can you speak?
Fluently - none. Who's fluent in English? I can read in Latin and some Spanish as well as some Italian. Not music either.

Is Fabio ugly?
Yes...that jaw. I think he could swallow me whole.
Which are better Legos or Lincoln Logs?
Legos are the bomb.
Red wine or white wine?
White. And Joe, you have to spell entree right. And no, I'm not putting that stupid accent mark on there. :)
Are you stubborn?
Damn right I am. It's part of my charm.
Who is better...Leno or Letterman?
Letterman -- too weird. Leno -- way dirty now that he's retiring...that and he doesn't fucking care anymore.
So, in conclusion, Conan.

What do you wear to bed?
Depends. t-shirt and undies, t-shirt and pants, undies only....it's a wide and varied thing.
First concert?
I think my parents took me to see the Monkees and I couldn't see shit. The first one that I went to voluntarily was Lauryn Hill at the Marcus Amph. in 1999. It was pretty sweet.

Dang it!
So, my dad emails me this morning and asks "Do you know where your Mom's #1 DVD for Firefly is, the box only has 2, 3, and 4?"........................
FUCK!
The last place that I REMEMBER watching the dvd was in Ohio with Adam Boll while we were having quiet time on Saturday night. I swear that I checked and made sure that we took the DVD's with us, but I'm worried that I left one in the player in my quest to get drunk that night.
So, I have a copy that I can give my mom to replace it, but it really irritates me that I possibly left the DVD there, because I was trying SO HARD to not do that.
So, anyway...I'm waiting to hear back from Colin, so I can remember who was the owner of said DVD player.
So frustrating.
I'm going to look around the apartment, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't watch it after I got back here.
FUCK FUCK FUCK! and DANG IT!

M. Night Shyamalan
You know what? I really like most of his movies. I enjoyed all of them except for Unbreakable, but I should probably go back and watch it again.
Jake and I rented Lady in the Water, which you watch when you can. It was a very good movie. Totally made up story.
In my searches about people in the movie, I was reading Bryce Dallas Howard's bio on imdb.com, which states that she became a vegetarian after watching "Earthlings" narrated by Joaquin Phoenix. You can find it fo free on Google video, if you have the stomach for watching such things. I do not. I started to watch it and I realized that I wouldn't be able to watch it for two reasons -- one, I would be crying the whole time and Jake would wonder what in the hell I was doing and then make me shut it off and two, I would probably throw up.
So, I such it off. It started on "Pets" (which is probably the easiest part to watch) and started with pet stores and puppy mills. I HATE pet stores. Never ever EVER get a pet from a pet store. That just reinforces that industry. Go to the pound. That's where I got the Mitchell cat, who is sitting next to me very nicely right meow.
I don't think that I could have made it through any part of the fur/clothing, food or comestic industry.
Man, I wish that I could play in teh film industry. That would be amazing. A dream. Maybe for another life.
Anyway, Earthlings: I just don't have it in me to finish watching. I plead ignorance for now.
But, do watch Lady in the Water. It is a good movie. Out for now.

Here's my reason for doing it
Like Amy, I too had to remove the link to Driz's blog. The reason: It doesn't work any more. Not a big surprise there, but I'm not going to have a link to something that doesn't work. That's just silly.
Saint Louis is fun. Two more whole days of being down here.
The kitties are very nice. The new one is quite skittish though and it takes her a while to learn that you are not going to hurt her or something like that.
More shopping today. Jake is really a big girl in disguise. He bought more stuff than all of us combined yesterday. Although, I did get some new sweet shoes and new sandals that I'm v. excited about.
I think that I'm going to go downstairs and get something to drink. Which would be water, since I failed to buy regular-type juice at the grocery store yesterday. oops.
Ryan really liked the Firefly that we got him. And it was on sale when we bought it, so it was win-win.

Applebee's in Tosa is Blacklisted
Well, both Applebee's in Tosa are blacklisted. Jossle, Liz, Jake and I went over there for dinner tonight and the server was TERRIBLE! Slow as hell and just dumb. Slow was the worst part.
So, we left a 5% tip. oh well. He didn't do that much anyway. We had to split up our own bill and everything anyway.
It's nice to have people around. I always enjoy it.
Anyway, that's all. Just wanted to share. I prefer the $1 taps and half price apps.

Hellooooo 2007
New Years = good time
Hung out at Hastings and drank most of the afternoon. Traded calls with Colin around 6 about dinner, but when you're trying to coordinate 15 people it's no good. Ate at Arby's since other places were le closed. Was kind of drunk so didn't actually eat that much.
Watched the Packers beat up the Bears to go 8-8. I really hope that Farve is back just one more year, but it's looking pretty doubtful. He had a good year and he can still play. I say, why not? Keep a-going.
And hell, 8-8 is pretty sweet. The Packers still have the December magic.
Bunch of kids came over to Hastings before 9 and were real loud and then left. We wandered over to the House about 9:30ish, and hung. Lots of randoms this year. V. strange. Would have preferred a low key party a little more. Saw Colin, James, Johnseb, you know, the usual crowd, except a lot of the usual crowd doesn't live here anymore. Jeff, G.Nate and Adam finally (FINALLY) came over about 11pm. It was totally sweet. Jeff was Jeff, which, actually, I don't see that side of him too often anymore. Lots of guys have "my girlfriend is in the room" syndrome.
Had midnight, kissed my husband, kissed Johnseb, and just chilled. By 1 or so, everyone had calmed down or left, EXCEPT for the chick who kept hitting on Jake. That was AMAZINGLY funny to watch. I just let her do it and Jake was too drunk and too nice to stop her. I was sitting and talking to Adam and Jess a little bit and I couldn't concentrate on their music teacher discussion. Colin wandered over and I talked with him for a while, since I haven't actually had a conversation with him in 7 months. It was nice to see him and James again. And everyone. I wish that we could stay longer today, but I have a lot of cleaning to do and Josh Lee and Liz are coming down tomorrow. Ugh! It's 9:20am right now and I wish we were going home already. But, that's just me.
So, this girl that was hitting on Jake stole his visor and was hiding it behind his back and we were getting up to leave and walked over by her and very calmly and nicely said, "Can my husband have his hat back please?". Didn't even emphasize husband or anything. :) Sweet.
Went to bed around 2:15 or 2:30. I woke up at 9, because it's SUNNY OUT! YES! I love it when it's sunny. It's so great. Me = not hungover and totally sweet. :)
Old people brunch today. Well, whatever that means.
I had a great 2006 (much better than 2005), and I can't wait for what 2007 brings. I'm pretty much back to normal (for certain) and I'm looking forward to the future. Hope you all had a great end of '06 and a great start to '07.

I suppose
I should make a post since it's been a while. Nothing new to say though.
Work = same as always
It's foggy here right now. V. weird. I am planning on dragging the chritmas tree out of the apartment today, but I have lots of other things on the docket, so I might forgo that until we are back here on Monday afternoon.
Jake is working until 4pm today and then we are leaving for EC. Just to hang. I'd rather have the extra night, to make tomorrow last as long as possible. :) I'm not gonna go crazy. Maybe. No, I won't. Jake might. He gets together with Nims and Salwa and off he goes.
The more I hear about the "Hastings was broken into" story, the more it makes me think that hobos or high schools walked in to take stuff. That, OR, the neighbors wandered over for christmas presents.
I was looking forward to just a low key New Years party, but it really seems like it's going to be OC. Which, I don't know how I feel about that. Oh well. If I get over loaded, I'll just go back to Hastings.
For those of you not in the know, in 2005 and early 2006, when I did nothing but party and drink every weekend, that was depression. It really does change you pretty much. I don't think that I was clinical or anything, like the medication kind, but I wasn't right. My normal state is solitary. It takes an amazing amount of effort for me to be around people all the time. It's quite draining. That's why for 99% you would never see me at parties, etc. by the time I turned 23. I mean, let's be honest, when I was 23, I'd been in school (undergrad) for 5 years. I felt old. I am old. :) I do enjoy the low key parties -- where you can just sit and talk and hang out and don't have to have the music BLASTING!, but I really blame Jake for blasting music. :)
So, anyway, I don't know if I'm going to be a life of the party or what. I doubt it. I am looking forward to seeing Colio, but my guess is that he will probably be in public mode and it will be not very much fun. He (and all the other trombone players) will be in trombone player mode. If you are on the outside looking in, you know what I'm talking about.
Okay, that's not really fair right now, but I'm thinking that I have PMS, because I've been really angry since yesterday afternoon. Irrationally angry and quick to get pissssst.
Maybe I'll yell at Nims this weekend. He wanted me to the last time I was there, but I was mellow. OH well.
Okay, I have to go change the laundry and I'm going to start on making all the goodies that I am planning on making and taking up to EC with me. :)

This is NOT very Christmas-y, but...
it is freakin' hilarious. If you haven't seen it and want better quality than this, you should prolly just go to You Tube and check it out.
Funniest thing to come out of SNL in a long time.
On the plus side, I recieved $100 in iTunes GC for BSG, so now I will own all seasons. Or I will burn all the ones that Ryan recieved (or will recieve) for Christmas when we are down there. Whenever that is. $50 from Parents and $50 from Aunt and Uncle -- pretty sweet. They even got Jake $50 too. $25 would have been okay.
Also recieved a cat litter thing that is supposed to trap the odor and whatnot -- sweet a. Got some Good Eats DVD's, but I already had the ones that my mom ordered, so I have to get them returned and get a new set. Oops. Got Pj's with kitties on them too. Slippers included. Chocolate and a french horn decorative lamp, which is cool. Not a real Fhorn, but that's a-ok.
Now, all I need is the t-shirt that says "E=Fb". Musician's Theory of Relativity.
djalsdjflasjdfl. Back to work tomorrow. Oh well. The vacation was nice while it lasted. Short week this week, very short week next week. And another short week after that. Totally amazing.
Anyway, that's all. Bye bye.
