So, Winter finally decided to show it's ugly face

Screw you, winter. Go to hell. And take the rain with you. I hate this region some times. It's raining now, like it's been all day and in a mere 5-6 hours, there will prolly be snow on the ground. grrrr.....

New job = okay. I'm much busier and I can learn SO much more, but that place has just been in limbo for so long and there are so many personalities to be reckoned with there, that there still is tension. There is also tension because of, once again, a complete lack of communication between managers and staff. But, I'm definitely looking forward to trying to make improvements up there. My real goal is for the company to do it's own accounting, because it can be very specialized AND the company is sort of run blindly now. There is just no communication in that area and it has just been SO busy for them, that they are still attempting to catch up this year. And not to toot my own horn, but I think having me up there will help, because I learn so quickly. One of my co-workers works ALL THE TIME, like weekends and everything, and I don't think that she knows how to not be at work. But, on one hand, it needs to be done, because there are sections that are FAR behind, but on the other hand, she chats a LOT during the day, so no wonder she is not getting things done during the work week. Just my observations from the week. Doesn't really mean much. It's been a long bad week for her, I think. Makes me feel bad for her.

The only real complaint that I have is that I get ignored at the front desk lot. People just walk by and don't really look at me or anything. I don't know if it's a by-product of earlier or what. I mean, I don't need a hello everytime, but a glance and a smile would be nice. Oh well. Maybe that's too much to ask at this point. It's just been busy.

I think that I will talk to the boss tomorrow or Friday about the accounting thing. At least have her ask for an update on Mondays, so we know how we're doing each week. The problem right now is that when we need checks sometimes, there's not enough money, but we don't know. Sorry, this is boring, but it helps me to write it all down and what not.

So, in other news, the water heater for our apartment is broken and they can't fix it until tomorrow (cross your fingers), so I had to take the COLDEST shower EVER tonight, just to clean myself. I was SO cold. Ice cold shower = not good. But, I feel better that I actually got to take a shower. I can't wait to take a warm shower again. :)

The other thing that I would love to be doing right now, is just hanging out with friends, drink wine out of the cat shaped bottle, and just chill out. It won't happen, but it would be amazing. I guess that I will probably just go to bed, so I'm not cold anymore.

The end

Chritmas Cookies

Martha may be a little on the strange/crazy side, but she does make a good cookie.

Made Peanut Butter Surprise cookies -- you know, the ones with the PB cup in the peanut butter cookie? I made them in muffin cups. I have yet to try one, because sugar really hurts my teeth, but I will try one soon. I really should go to the dentist, but life is crap when you don't have dental insurance and you can't really afford to go otherwise -- that's about the only good thing about being a teacher -- you can get some sweet ass benefits if you are in the right school district -- like Josh and Kristine -- I don't think that they have to pay to go to the dentist at all.

Also made "Icebox Shortbread" cookies, with chocolate chips in them. Those are really good too. Crunchy and chocolatey. Yum. Finally, Gingerbread. Gingerbread cookies really only serve to remind me of the last year's Joy of Hasting Party, but that's okay. They smell good.

Started with the chritmas shopping season. Have already purchased 4 gifts and will probably go out again when we get paid again. The end of the month is ALWAYS a tight spot AND Jake's student loans came out of defferment. I don't think that's how you spell that. So, I have to make sure I have money to cover rent, student loan payments and the money that I give to my dad. Ugh.

I was accepted to the Master's Program for Accounting in Fall 2007, so I can start then on a good note. With everyone else.

Jake went up to GB tonight to hang out with Josh and get a haircut. He doesn't trust anyone down here to do it, so if he has an opportunity to go up there, he takes it. So, I'm really just sitting and watching football mainly. Cookies. Blogging. Hacking the Interweb.

There are 6 other kinds of cookies/bars that I will attempt to make this holiday season. I think that I will be successful. HA! Al Michaels just called "3rd and 2", "3rd and a deuce". Anyway, since we're not in EC EVERY weekend, like we were last year, since we were so close, it's easier to plan and make cookies on the weekends. I had a fabulous 4 day weekend and I'm sorry that it's over. It was nice just to have time. Sleep in and all that good stuff.

The PB Surpise cookies are good too. They need to be more Peanut buttery and the sugar coating on the cookies is a little much, but they are good. I think that regular PB cookies would be a little better. :)

Well, I think that was sufficiently random for the night. Talk at you again. Bye bye

Same old, same old

So, Thanksgiving has come and gone. My 4 day weekend is almost at an end. Too bad.

I'm hungry. I should have eaten more for din-din. Than just french fries.

We bought a Chritmas tree last night, and it's sitting waiting to be decorated right meow. I was thinking of putting the lights on tonight, but I'm a pretty lazy daisy. I put up Chritmas decorations and stuff. It's nice. I enjoy this time of year. Just need to find some way to put up Chritmas stocking and the like.

Don't know what we're doing for Chritmas as far as familia goes. I suppose it's a way off yet before we have to decide and such.

I don't really have much to say. So, I guess that I will go.

kalsjflkasjdfklj!

I think that I did an "I'm Thankful for" post last year, so I will forgo this year. Because I'm still thankful for the same things. Everyone and everything.

Jake is off to work already this morning and I need to shower, clean bathroom, finish cleaning back room up, wishing the people upstairs would shut the fuck up -- this is the warmest Thanksgiving weekend that I can remember -- take your kids down the play ground and let them run around! GOSH!

Annyway, in general, cleaning needs to take place. Since I have the time. Lunch with Yakob I think. Will attempt to take him by Beihoff's or Nims and Salwa, if they are coming...I'm not really sure what's going on with that.

Okay, ready....SHOWER!

Two a day

Sorry for the double post today.

I'd like to thank Colin for posting a bunch of pictures that just reinforced for me how LONG it has been since I was in EC and how much I didn't really see that many people when I was there last.

Made me really sad. Will probably also make the weekend long. Well, not so long, since Nims and Salwass are coming down on Friday on their way to Chicago. I'm not going, because I just want to stay home and rest, you know, have my day of rest and all. I don't actually know if they are still staying here or not.

If we would have been included on the original plans, it might have been do-able. But, alas and alack, it's not viable. Oh well. Life happens.

So, I'm just going to try to go to bed and have a good last day at work for the end day of my work week. Waiting to hear about any SAI stuff going on. I know something is going on because of something that Hayley wrote, but haven't heard anything official. So, SOMEONE, let me know!!!! :)

Good night.

Fosterak and The Simpsons

So, I don't know how many people know this about me. I mean, everyone who has known me long enough for me to bring actually talk to them and not just sit and listen to them talk to other people should know this about me.

When engaged in active conversation, at least 20% of the things that I say will be a quote from the Simpsons. I just use it as part of my regular speech. I can't help it. It's something I started with one of my best friends from high school, who basically helped me survive through college - I would call him Sunday nights to talk for an hour on the phone, just to talk and see what the haps back in hometown land were. We talked back and forth like that constantly.

I can't remember if I had ever found another person who could do that with me like he could. Probably Branden was the closest one. He, at least, knew that I was quoting the Simpsons and not saying something COMPLETELY random.

My husband doesn't really understand this I don't think. Whenever I say something slightly off color or maybe slightly out of character for me, it's probably something that someone else wrote and I repeat for my enjoyment.

Now, generally, I don't really care what people think of me for the most part. I mean, I DO care, but I don't care so much that I'm just going to do something because everyone else is doing it. I do what I want. But, for some reason, I just got really offended last night when I did something similiar -- quoting the Simpsons for amusement -- and the husband just shook his head at me. So, I just got mad, got a headache and then went to bed. I was probably just tired.

My first day in the new place yesterday went really well AND really fast. It was 9am, then 12:30p, then 4p. I leave at 5pm. I'm hoping today is just as fast, which it probably will be AND I get to wear jeans today! on a Tuesday! Not since the Bank switched over to casual all the time have I been able to wear jeans on a Tuesday. Sweet a.

Just felt like writing some of those frustrations down. Maybe I won't be so frustrated with the hubby now. That, and he works until 8:30pm tonight, so I get some alone time! Yipee!

Weekend Fin

What a crazy weekend. Well, not so much crazy as JUST different.

Friday night: Drove home from work, sat for an hour, then drove to Menomonee Falls for the dress rehearsal for the concert on Saturday -- it went well. I was in the zone and concentrating and all that good stuff. Came home, laid in bed and watched Firefly until I fell asleep.

Saturday: Get woken up by Jake, calling me at 7:45! grrrr.... I could really only hear static, so that was crappy, because he could hear me perfectly. So, that was an auscipious start to the day. Got up, sat around a bit, when to Target and bought some stuff to do laundry and got $20 to put on the laundry card. Came back, got lazy and didn't do laundry. I bought the DVD's of Firefly, because they have the extras and stuff, and watched that. Starting making my Christmas cards. Made Rice-a-roni for dinner. When to the concert, which was okay. My concentration was shot, because I had only sat around all day and I woke up so early. Finally, when we played the Hanson Symphony #2, it was back a lot more, but still a little in and out. It was good. I hope that I get to come back. Went to Uno's in Menomonee Falls with Mom and Dad, had boneless buffalo wings -- !!!!!!! -- and a beer. Drove home, laid in bed and watched Ghost Hunters off the iPod. Was hacking the internet in bed and read Pat's blog and found out that Colio had made the long trip up to EC. Texted him and he was driving to FDL that night. So, made suggesting that if he wanted to rest, he could totally stop here -- since FDL is only an hour away -- kind of dumb. Oh well. Junkyard.

Today: Turned on the TV in the am to make sure nothing horrible had happened (and, since I have now read johnseb's blog, something could have, but the fates were kind), since I have problems with that sort of thing, waking up alone on a Sunday morning in bed and not turning on the TV. That's what happened the AM of Oct. 16th. I can't jump that horrible feeling hurdle yet.

But, everything was A-ok. Watched the fucking Packer game. BRRAH! Did laundry at Mom and Dad's. Came home and put laundry away and am now reading blogs. And posting.

Sorry for the play by play of the weekend, but that's what you get. :)

New job starts tomorrow. Thanksgiving and Nims and Salwass are coming down Friday!! I'm excited to have visitors. I don't know if I'm heading down to Chicago yet, because I have to balance my wanting to go with Jake's having to work Friday and Saturday. I'd like to, but...I'd also like to get stuff done in the apartment too. I hope that they stay on Saturday too. We can hang out and stuff while Jake is at work.

I have to start working out again. I was moving clothes around and I have at least 20 pants that I can't wear right now, but I used to wear them all the time. 15 pounds should do it. I just need to work at it. Not really the right time of year for that sort of thing. I will start trying again though. I need to. I can't afford new clothing.

Probably will be in EC the Holiday Concert weekend for Joy of Hastings party -- which had better be happening. It's worth the effort of driving up there.

Okay, well, I'm off to putz around the apartment some more!

I've said before, I'll say it again

Trombone players are really strange around this time of year. Stupid made-up secret societies.

DAH!

I am changing jobs again, moving up to the Title company where I work. I am starting at the front desk, answer phones, order entry, etc. and the like, and there is the possibility that I will actual go somewhere in this company-- i.e., advance to more responsibilities, more money (I am extrinsically motivated). That starts on Monday. They are firing the girl that I am replacing today. Whoops. So, I'm pretty excited. Maybe I will get a raise and Jake will get a raise and then getting a house will be easier. We'll see.

Jake is off hunting this weekend. I have a dress rehearsal tonight for the concert tomorrow. This will be the first time that I have played through all the songs. Yikes. Must be what being in a professional orchestra is like, but in this, you can fuck up. I doubt you can fuck up in Chicago and be employed for long.

I purchased (with my gift certificate from Maggie, Ryan and the cats) from Amazon.com the movie Serenity, since I don't own it, and a Firefly documentary call "Done the Impossible", which based chronicles the life and death of the TV show and it's resurrection to a movie, which was something that had never been done EVER before. Fox still sucks, BTW, for cancelling it in the first place. I've been on a Firefly kick lately. The Documentary is pretty neat -- made by the fans, but narrated by Adam Baldwin and including a lot of the cast and Joss. I'm an hour through it.

In conclusion, if you haven't seen Firefly yet, you really should watch it.
I'm off to work! Okay bye.

Copying Becky...

Christmas Survey.

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
No eggs, no nog

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Santa wrapped presents under the tree and left them unwrapped by the fireplace too...so, both.

3. Colored lights or white lights on tree/house?
I like the old timey colored lights (the HUGE ones) or the plain white. Not tiny colored

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
I once drew a funny picture of a missile with a toe/foot on it for a Christmas party my parents had.

5. When do you put up your decorations?
I'm aiming for after Thanksgiving, but whenever I get to it. Maybe this weekend too.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
I love Sweet potatoes. And regular potatoes.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child:
Getting a scooter for Christmas and getting to try it right away because the sidewalks were cleared.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I really did this to answer this question -- I remember it, because I think that my heart broke. You know me, I'm pretty naive and trusting most of the time.
I was reading the letter that St Nick had left for me. I got a pair of red/black striped gloves and a Thundertube (a sled). I was reading the letter and my mom was on the phone with my dad. I was 8. (I know, pretty old, but hey, I'm an only child). I was reading and all of a sudden I realized that St. Nick had the same handwriting as my dad. I said, "Mom?...Why does St. Nick have the same handwriting as Dad?"...hoping the whole time that she would tell me that I was wrong....So, let that be a lesson to you all! :)

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
We opened one, then went to my Aunt and Uncles, to church, to my Godparents house, to church again and then home to open the rest of the gifts. Then there were more on Christmas morning.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
Formal process of lights, garland, ornaments, tinsel.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
I love it. Most of the time. Not driving in rush hour.

12. Can you ice skate?
I think that I can.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
My favorite gift as the Nintendo Miracle Piano. Then I learned the ghetto version of playing the piano. But it was the only piano that my parents would buy -- they wouldn't buy a real one.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Family. Except I don't ever see my family anymore. That's why my friends become so important. They are my family.

15. What is your fav holiday dessert?
The cookies that my dad makes and we decorate -- so good! I think that it's a Foster recipe.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Used to be going to my aunt and uncles and godparents, but the last time that I went, it wasn't that great.

17. What tops your tree?
Star

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving?
Giving, definitely. I go overboard. Spending money is the only way that I show affection and caring sometimes.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
O Holy Night. Without a doubt. Like to sing it and play it on Harp. Gosh, I miss the harp.

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?

I also like the fruit flavors -- Cherry. Yummy. :)

I'm in a weird mood tonight. I don't know why. I think it's because Jake is leaving this weekend and I have to stay here, alone. I HATE that. Makes me nervous. And him hunting makes me nervous. I don't want no phone calls. I wish that I didn't have the concert on Saturday night, because I'd be in EC like that. I think that I'm going to try to convince Jake to come up to EC for the Joy of Hastings party. I'll make him take off work for it too. :)

Okay, time for bed. Hope that I won't be in weird mood tomorrow.

See, I did EXACTLY what I didn't want to do.

Okay, so my blogger doesn't look any different. At all. Only on the user end. Weird.

Menomonee Falls SO concert on Saturday. If you are in the area, come and hear us play Rodeo at 3/4 speed, Lincoln Potrait, Summer of 1915 (?) by Barber, and Hanson Symphony #2. Which will all be played like it needs another week of rehearsals. :)

It is doesn't sound bad, but it doesn't sound polished. And the violins have trouble remembering not to play in the rests in Rodeo. No memory retention. Or they should practice. :)

I didn't tell my mom and she freaked out when I did tell her. I guess she misses me playing in stuff more than I miss me playing in stuff. After rehearsal this week, I asked Mike, the director, if he needed me on the next concert. He told me to ask the first horn player and then thanked me for playing again, and then gave me the "No, SERIOUSLY, thank you for playing" look, because perhaps the 4th horn is as loud as me maybe. I don't know. I'm not that good. :)

OKAY! I have to finish getting ready for work. I told myself I would be on here 5 minutes and it's been 20. Whoops.

New blogger

I switched the bloggy blog. Hey, my font is pretty neat right now. It's HUGE!!!

Anyway, I was making a post because I went to write Brooke a note in Facebook and noted that she is friends with Carol Jantsch. Which makes her better than everyone.

DAH!

I think they know each other from Interlochen. I would assume anyway.

I don't think that I have anything else going on. How many movies will Hugh Jackman do this year? Boo is biting Mitchell to make him move from her spot on the couch. He's salty now. Now she's sitting on his back end portion. He's really angry. It's pretty funny.

I made cookies tonight. I have to do the wash, which I don't really want to do and I'm running out of time.

Downloaded and caught up on BSG this weekend. Totally sweet. Also bought Firefly from iTunes, which is OK, but it's the broadcast version, so there's a "last time on Firefly", like that made a difference on that show. That poor show. Just bad timing. If that show was out now, it would be totally amazing. And it would still be on the air. oh well.

I guess that's all for now.

Oh, that and, Ryan Cavis is officially a Cylon. Number 11 or 12, we're not sure.

A quick one...

Just to say that I am both sorry and glad that I am not in the Eau C this weekend...

First: 6 inches of snow, bleech. I mean, there's like .25 inches down here, but that was enough for me

Second: SUPER CRABBY!!!!

Dissapointed about missing the El Salwasssssss 21st bday. Sorry about that Statesmen Concert man. I hope you are out being a rock star right now. :)

And FINALLY:

1 year ago this weekend, Maria and Josh Hertel were married.

Happy First Anniversary!

I enjoyed that weekend for many reasons:

It was a nice weekend, saw lots of people that I hadn't seen, watched many people get drunker than I had ever seen before, got to play french horn with James on regular type trombone, with Joel and Sean and Paula (who got that hair in her eye before the recessional), and generally had a good time. Actually, that pretty much kicked off approximately 6 months of non-stop drinking and general non-positive behavior. :)

And that's okay.

I'm playing in a concert with the Menomonee Falls Symphony Orchestra on the 18th. Looking forward to it. We are playing Rodeo (which I do NOT get to the play, ba-dop-ba-dap-dop-HONK! because I'm on fourth -- Yakob, you know what I'm talking about!), something with Lincoln in it that I can't remember, and Howard Hanson Symphony No. 2. I'm playing fourth horn. Subbing. It's fun to play again. And, let's face it, I still rock socks, for playing in community orchestra.

Lincoln Potrait? I think that's it. It's a little weird.

Okay, I have to go look at the kitchen that my husband cleaned from 10:45pm to 11:30pm. Bye!

Welcome to Tex...I mean, Wisconsin...

Apparently, there are WAY more conservative people who vote Democrat than I thought.

I find the juxtaposition of the results of last night funny, but not ha-ha funny. Kind of that sick to my stomach funny.

Thank you for making civil unions illegal WI. AND PLEASE, don't leave me messages about how I'm wrong about the referendum. I know what it does. The next few years are going to be interesting. Maybe someone can challenge it as unconstitutional. Oh wait....never mind.

AND THAT death penalty. Don't get me started.

Guh. I think that the 50-nifty United States have wrongly put to death enough people, because one person getting out of death row because of DNA evidence should have been enough to stop all executions.

I really hope, whatever your opinion was, that you got out and voted, because it's the only way to really have your voice heard. If you don't like the results AND you didn't vote, what can you say? Nothing! And I saw enough "status" updates to realize that, yes, I have conservative friends who probably voted the opposite of what I voted, but that is their right as Americans. So, if you are someone who harrasses people that don't have the same opinion as you, just stop.

And yes, I do realize the irony of what I am saying.

And off to another exciting day of work. We were thinking about going up to EC this weekend, but it's not going to happen. We are too tired and old to drive this weekend. It's been a rough time down here the past couple months. We need a break together. :)

Whelp, I'm fucking done

So, no MSO job. They hired someone who had more experience with the fucking TICKETING system. It's just fucking software. God, I could learn that software in a week.

Just fuck it.

Fuck the orchestras. They can go to hell. It's fine. I could be the best employee you have, but yet, you insist on hiring for experience. I feel like a fucking teacher. Well, you did great, but we hired someone else.

I also plugged up the kitchen sink and/or garbage disposal, so I'm sure that I'll get yelled at for that when Jake gets home. My dad is bringing a big wrench over though.

Oh well, when a door closes, God always opens a window. THe Front desk person for the Title company upstairs was fired today. So, maybe it is worth me going to my Manager and the manager of the Title company and asking if they thought they could use me full time upstairs. I can't work in Accounting and the Front Desk anymore. It's been two weeks and I'm done. I get absolutely nothing done.

So, the lesson here is to have internships where you actually learn stuff that employers of arts organziations care about instead of nothing.

Cross your fingers, toss salt over your shoulder...I could go on forever

So, had the IN PERSON interview with the VP-Marketing, the Marketing Manager and the Patron Services Manager today downtown. It was only 20 minutes, but I thought that it went well. I was a little unprepared, but I thought that things were good.

I got the VP and the PSM card's and I already had the MM's email, so I emailed all three separately, thanking them for interviewing me. Apparently, the VP Marketing was the VP of Marketing in STL for the SLSO and left to come to MKE. He's only been here a year.

I was truthful about why I wanted to work there: to get my foot back in the door and I said that I would love to stay there forever if I could, meaning that I would like to advance through the organization. BUT: I was just so unable to talk about anything today that I am a little concerned. I'm really going to be bummed out if I don't get this position. They will probably promote someone else in the position and that will be the end or something like that.

Anyhoo, I won't think that way right now. I am currently downloading BSG ep 4, which I have the season pass to on iTunes and i just bought FF 12!!!! Sweet. I'm SUCH a nerd.
